Depression is a major illness that can leads to suicide in many cases. The depression rate worldwide has been increasing rapidly. In a study it was reported that the one in 15 adults are suffering from depression. On an average rate the depression is found to be noticed in mostly late teens or early 20s and it can occur in any age throughout life. In this blog we are going to know more about the myths related to depression.
Society should start talking about this issue boldly. So the affected person can be more comfortable for talking about their condition and share their problems with their loved ones. Many individuals are still afraid of talking about their condition because of response they get from the people sitting next to them.
Depression is very serious that affects a persons whole existence and make them feel useless, worthless and emotionally blank. So, the individual should stop thinking about these responses by keeping this in mind "SABSA BADA ROG KYA KAHENGE LOG" and start taking their medication along with the therapy.

It's a not real disease - Many People have this bizarre misconception and do not have any correct knowledge about depression and called it as a fake disease and pass their judgement on other peoples. They often make fun of the individual suffering from depression and mock them continuously. First of all before saying things like that they should try to know the facts about depression. Depression is a serious illness that can cause by various reasons like:
Due to difference in certain chemicals in brain and that alters its function and results into symptoms of depression.
Due to genetic reasons, it can run in families.
Due to personality reasons, like people with low self confidence and pessimistic thoughts have more chances of depression.
Due to their surrounding conditions, like experiencing more violence, abuse, less attention.

Depression can be fight by hard work
Case of depression can be seen in 1 of 10 peoples but still people have huge misconception related to the disorder. People are still not comfortable to talk about it because of other peoples. In many cases you must have hear this statement "By hard working you can easily beat depression", but it is myth because overworking is one of the sign of depression that is common in men.
Depressed people cries a lot
It is another common myth that is always related to depression. The person who is not suffering from any such condition thinks that, people with depression cries a lot and if a person is not crying or laughing that means he/ she is not suffering from depression. Sadly the people who is experiencing sign and symptoms of depression does not show what condition they are going through and acts normal. Those who are suffering from depression may appear emotionally blank and feels like useless and worthless.
Due to self-pity depression arises
We lives in a nation with bizarre #bestrong misconception where will power and mental strength is most important for society and they easily mock other peoples for not acting strong. They assume depression as a self pity and always says to act all grown up and strong and give instruction to make depression blew with strong will. But they still don't know that it is a serious medical condition and no one can control it without help of professional.
You have to take drugs for the rest of life
Most of the times we can hear a buzz in case of depression that if a person start taking medication for the disorder always have to depend on drugs for rest of their life. But it is most ridiculous misconception because it is not necessary that your doctor is going to prescribe medicine, in most of the cases they advice for "talk" therapy and medicine is helpful in different type of cases according to its severity.
Medication of depression is sign of weakness
Sad and brutal reality of society is that people think if a person starts taking medication he/she is not strong enough. Many of the depression cases the medication is must to treat the condition because of the severity. In severe depression cases even living normal life becomes difficult and their is high chances of self harm.
Taking medicine is not sign of weakness. It is sign of self-care.
