In scientific terms depression can be defined as a disorder that is related to the individuals mood which causes a recurring feeling of sadness and loss of interest.


In general terms we can define depression as when the person start feeling like life is a burden and constantly feel like they are broken, everything in life is sad and nothing is going to better and looses all the interest, even in daily life chores like eating, sleeping and at severe stage feels like they are inside a black box that is filled with nothingness.


According to WHO (World Health Organization) approximately 280 Million peoples are suffering from Depression.

  1. 5% of adult are suffering from depression.

  2. Depression is now a common disease.

  3. Depression is leading individuals towards various diseases.

  4. Women are more depressed than men.

  5. Depression leads individual to suicide.

Few years back, talking about depression was very difficult people often made fun of that and says stupid things like "how can you be depressed you have best possible things."


They did not think about how to help that person or motivate them with the best possible ways, instead of that they will make it a breaking news and even mock that person for being depressed. This is so unfortunate, the person who is going through that phase needs loads of support and love.


Depression is very serious disorder that can destroys any persons life. It is very difficult to explain how depression feels like to a person whose never been on those shoes. Depression is mainly related to anxiety and loneliness.



According to experiences of peoples suffered from depression, is like a feeling that is persistently stays with you no matter what you are doing, where you are, with whom you are. It came along with a feeling of disgust from every single thing around you. The person starts hating everything even themselves and slowly they loose their identity at a point and most tragic thing is that they didn't even knew that.

A seventh grade student describe it as - "A monster who devours your soul and leaves a vacant shell with no interpersonal skills, loneliness and disgust feeling from their own identity."


An adult girl stated it as - " A feeling that feels like nothingness, you will feel pain of loneliness even a room full or peoples. I tried and tried to escape from that cold feeling but not able to succeed. "


Now the times are changing, people are now trying to share there experience and the person sitting facing to them are trying to understand their disorder.

  1. First and most important step is try to get help of professional.

  2. Take your medicine on time.

  3. Exercise regularly because it will release stress and anxiety.

  4. Follow healthy diet and drink plenty of water.

  5. Try to convert that negative energy into positive energy by doing the things you like it will open up the creativity in you.

  6. Try to avoid thinking about bad things because actions like anger, blame bring negativity around you.

  7. Try to connect with people you love, try to express your condition like how you are feeling.

  8. Try to listen some calm music because that is going to make your peaceful and positive.

  9. Last and one of the most important way to fight depression is try to love yourself as you are, try to accept yourself.
